Mumbai:

NGO Child Rights and You or CRY's 'Shiksha' project - which is dedicated to the cause of children's education - now has a special song, with famous Bollywood music composer Bappi Lahiri singing to the tune of Aaao tumhe chand pe le jaye, ek choti si duniya basaye ek bangla banaye.

The tune and the lyrics may have been a part of childhood, but this is the song for the future. The music video stars Shaan, a famous singer and the face of Shiksha, actress Renuka Shahane, who also lends her voice to the music.

Education for children was the clear reason why Shaan was interested in this song. "On one hand, we have children that we buy toys everyday and on the other hand there are those who deserve the same, but can't have it because of various social barrier," Shaan says.

According to Bappi Lahiri, when Renuka Shahane sings, it gives the sense of a teacher educating students.

"Singing was an alternate profession that I used to think of. Now that Bappi Lahiri thinks so, I must take it seriously,” Renuka says.
