BANGALORE: Bangalore North BJP MP D B Chandre Gowda welcomed the suspension of two MPs and four Bellary MLAs of the party on grounds of anti-party activities. “The bypoll is necessitated because of the arrogance and greed of an individual who thought that he was bigger than the party. The people will teach such megalomaniacs a fitting lesson,” he told reporters here on Saturday. According to him, Sriramulu’s exit was a much-needed purge for the party and government after which both will emerge stronger. “The BJP was built brick by brick by thousands of party workers over decades. Sriramulu came only when the party was accepted by the people and respected due to the hard work of ordinary workers,” he said. Gowda took a dig at JD(S) saying that by not fielding a candidate and not taking a clear stance, H D Deve Gowda’s party has proved that it is a family concern. “When the election is taking place in Bellary, the former PM staged a dharna in Bangalore and claimed that his party was strong, alive and kicking. If that is so, why did he not field a candidate?” he asked.
