New Delhi: In a shocking incident, a 55-year-old-age home inmate Sher Singh allegedly died on Wednesday night after he along with 134 others was evicted from an old-age home in Vasant Kunj area of Delhi.
Sources say all the 135 senior citizens were shifted to Sevasandan NGO in Narela on Wednesday night as the old-age home was to be vacated after its lease agreement expired.
All the inmates of the old-age home were forced out of the building on Monday and since then they had been living on the footpath till Wednesday evening.
However, Delhi Social Welfare Minister Kiran Walia went to meet the senior citizens and assured them that they would not become homeless. Walia stated that they would be shifted to other old-age homes.
But the 135 senior citizens were not ready to be separated from each other. So they were shifted to Narela where 55-year-old Sher Singh died.
