Bhubaneswar: Delhi Waveriders prevailed over Kalinga Lancers 4-3 in a tense match with Simon Child scoring two goals in a Hero Hockey India League match here on Sunday.

Delhi, who had thrashed the same opponents 5-0 at home on January 30, today faced a stiff resistance but came out unscathed in the end to bag five full points in the return-leg match.

Child struck two field goals in the 28th and 40th minutes after drag-flicker Rupinder Singh had given the Delhi side an early lead in the fourth minute from a penalty corner. Arjun Hallapa scored the other goal -- the winner -- in the 59th minute.

For Kalinga Lancers, Lucas Vila converted a penalty stroke in the 22nd minute which he got after Rupinder committed a foul on him on the edge of the circle. Argentine Peillat Gonzalo scored the two other goals for the Odisha side in the 46th and 57th minutes.

With today's win, Delhi Waveriders are on second spot in the league table with 17 points from three wins and two losses while Kalinga, under the charge of India coach Terry Walsh, are at fifth position with six points from four matches.
