BANGALORE: Depressed over a loss in business, a vegetable vendor committed suicide by hanging himself at his residence in APMC Yard Road on Friday. The deceased M C Nagaraju, 40, was a native of Shimoga. According to the police, the incident came took place at around 9.30 am when Nagaraju was alone at home. 17-year-old Sets Self on Fire, Dies A 17-year-old girl, who was undergoing treatment for fire burns which occurred in a suicide attempt, set herself on fire on Thursday. The deceased Shilpashri, a school drop out, was a resident of Gavipuram. She was employed at a garment factory. According to the police, Shilpashri had failed in SSLC examinations last year and was depressed over this. Recently, she had lost her father. Also, sources said she was allegedly in love with one of her friends and her family had opposed to this relationship. On March 29, in attempt to suicide, she had set herself on fire. But her neighbours had rushed her to a nearby hospital, where she was being treated. On Thursday, she set herself on fire again and ended her life. Hanumanthanagar police registered a case.Security Guard Hurt As Gun Goes Off A security guard with Central Armed Reserve (CAR), who was on duty, escaped with minor injuries after he misfired his rifle on Reserve Bank of India premises on Nrupatunga Road on Friday. A bullet from Head Constable Venkatesh’s service self-loading rifle (SLR) got misfired. Sources said the gunrubbed against his left shoulder.
