New Delhi: CBI Director Ranjit Sinha said that he has not received letter from suspended Gujarat IPS officer DG Vanzara. Sinha added that the investigative agency will examine the letter in the context of Ishrat Jahan fake encounter case.
"We are yet to get a copy of his letter officially. It will be examined in the context of Ishrat case once we receive it," said Sinha.
Sources say that the CBI is not attaching much value to the letter as Vanzara is one of the accused in the case. However, they added that a CBI team may cross examine Vanzara to look into the allegations made by him.
Vanzara, who is one of the accused in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh, Tulsiram Prajapati and Ishrat Jahan fake encounter cases, resigned from the police force on Tuesday after alleging that Chief Minister Narendra Modi has been shielding his close aide Amit Shah at the cost of the police officers.
While claiming that Modi was his 'god', Vanzara said that he decided to quit from the service because the Gujarat government ditched him and other police officers in the fake encounter cases.
