Dhwajastambhams of 2 more temples fall

VIJAYAWADA/GUNTUR: Two days after the Galigopuram of Bhavanarayana Swamy temple at Bapatla in Guntur district crumbled, Dhwajastambhams of two temples fell on Tuesday morning.The 35-ft tall Dhwajastambham of Ankalamma temple in Kolluru of Guntur district, which developed cracks, fell. None was injured in the incident. Villagers complained that the endowments officials did not respond to their appeals to repair the tower.The 100-year-old Dhwajastambham of Sri Venugopala Swamy temple at Vellatur in G Konduru mandal of Krishna district too collapsed. Villagers feared it was a bad omen and might have an adverse effect on the prosperity of the village.
