BANGALORE: The Byappanahalli police cracked a double murder case, in which a 30-year-old woman and her 10-year-old son were murdered, and arrested the woman’s 27-year-old paramour in this connection.The accused has been identified as M Tangamani alias Nandu, a resident of Ambedkar Nagar in Old Byappanahalli. He is accused of killing Rani and her son Praveen Kumar. The mother and son were found murdered at their residence in Ambedkar Nagar on May 5.According to the police, Rani was earlier married to one Manjunath and their marriage had lasted for five years. The couple also had two children, Praveen Kumar and seven-year-old Monisha. However, she had deserted him and had started living with Tangamani seven years ago. Her son Praveen was also staying with them. But, Rani later developed relationship with one Karthik. Tangamani came to know about it and warned Rani to stay away from Karthik. As she did not pay heed to him, Tangamani quarrelled with her and went to his native place in Thiruvannamalai of Tamil Nadu.“On May 1, Tangamani saw Rani roaming around with Karthik in Thiruvannamalai and irked with her attitude, he allegedly conspired to kill her. Around 4 am on May 3, he came to her house in Ambedkar Nagar and allegedly strangulated her with a plastic rope. Praveen saw Tangamani murdering his mother so he allegedly strangulated Praveen also and returned to Tamil Nadu. Based on clues, a police team reached Thiruvannamalai and arrested Tangamani,” the police explained.Presently, the accused has been remanded in judicial custody.
