CHENNAI: Acting on a complaint of bribery, sleuths of the DVAC on Friday conducted a raid at a fire station in Ashok Nagar.Police said, based on a tip off, the police conducted a search at the office of additional divisional fire officer Purushothaman and seized two liquor bottles.The raid was conducted following a complaint, which alleged that the fire officials were taking bribes to issue NOCs to cracker shops for the Deepavali season. Police sources said that the sleuths also returned a huge amount of cash after the fire officials produced receipts for it.Meanwhile, Rs. 75,565 was seized during a DVAC raid at the RTO, Kancheepuram. The seized amount included Rs. 27,030 was kept under a computer table at the motor vehicle inspector’s room. Another raid— conducted jointly by the district deputy inspection cell officer and DVAC—revealed that a registrar at the Saidapet registrar office for making entries on the money possessed by the office staff, was not being maintained properly.
