CHENNAI: Vigilance and Anti-Corruption sleuths ‘trapped’ an assistant in the office of the Regional Joint Director of Collegiate Education, Tiruchy, while taking bribe from a teacher on Thursday.Sources said Velu, an assistant professor in a college in Thanjavur earlier, served as senior lecturer in the same college. Acting on his plaint, D Venugopal, assistant, (office of the Joint Director) was caught red-handed while demanding a bribe of `2,000 from Velu, who had approached him in connection with salary arrears due to him.
