Barrister M K Nambiyar was a pioneer who helped the Supreme Court in interpreting the scope and extent of fundamental rights, said Justice K S Radhakrishnan, Supreme Court of India.
He was inaugurating the M K Nambiyar Endowment Programme instituted in National University of Advanced Legal Studies by K K Venugopal, senior advocate, Supreme Court of India, at NUAL auditorium, Kalamassery, on Saturday.
Justice Manjula Chellur lauded the gesture of K K Venugopal in having instituted the endowment in the name of his father with praiseworthy objectives.
She was delivering the presidential address at the function.
Prof Christopher Forsyth, Professor of Public Law and Private I n t e r n a t i o n a l L a w , University of Cambridge, UK, delivered the first M K Nambiyar Endowment Lecture on ‘The Province of Legitimate Expectations Redefined’.
Senior advocate Krishnan Venugopal, who, in the absence of K K Venugopal, offered felicitations.
He spoke about the exemplary qualities of Barrister M K Nambiyar.
Prof N K Jayakumar welcomed the gathering and Prof P Leelakrishnan, Member, Executive Council, NUALS, proposed the vote of thanks
