MADURAI/CHENNAI: The Director of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption wing on Friday searched the premises of two former DMK ministers in Madurai district, Sivaganga district and Chennai in connection with disproportionate asset cases against the two.A special team simultaneous raided the premises belonging to former Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments minister K R Periakaruppan and former Adi Dravidar Welfare Minister A Tamilarasi. A senior officer of the DVAC said incriminating documents, bank account and locker details were seized from Periakaruppan’s house, while incriminating documents were obtained from the residences of Tamilarasi.She and her husband were questioned on their assets, police sources said.According to the officer, Periakaruppan had accumulated movable and immovable assets in his name and in the name of his family members disproportionate to his known sources of income between 2006 and 2010. “He accumulated wealth to a tune of `1.10 crore,” the officer said.Tamilarasi had accumulated wealth disproportionate to her known sources of income during the same period to the tune of `13 lakh.The special team raided the residences and farm house of Periakaruppan at Aralikottai village in Sivaganga district, the residence of his father-in-law and also a building owned by him at Thiruppathur. A blue metal company of the former HR&CE Minister at Minnalkodi village in Sivagangai district and the minister’s house in Chennai were also raided. Police said they had registered a case after conducting inquiries on specific information that assets disproportionate to the known source of income was allegedly accumulated.
