TIRUNELVELI: The anti-Koodankulam Nuclear Power Plant (KKNPP) relay fast at the coastal village near Koodankulam in Tirunelveli district entered its 50th day on Tuesday. Former chief of naval staff Admiral Ramdas and his wife Lalita Ramdas participated in the protest.Ramdas told Express that he and his wife had come to Idinthakarai primarily to express their solidarity and support for the people of the area protesting against the nuclear power plant.“The plant would affect the livelihood of fishermen, and ruin the environment and ecology. Nobody can say that there will never be an accident. Calling the plant 100 per cent safe was wish thinking,” he said. Later they led a communal unity rally along with other leaders. PMANE coordinator S P Udayakumar also participated. M Pushparayan, a protest committee member, said that they were planning to stage another relay fast at Madurai.
