Fishermen case: Italy PM speaks to Manmohan
Manmohan Singh expressed concern over the death of two Indian fishermen, but the Italian PM stuck to his stand.

New Delhi: The Italian government is mounting pressure on India over the fishermen deaths incident. Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti called up Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and reiterated their stand that the incident happend in international waters.

Manmohan Singh has said that the concerns of the victims' families must be addressed.

The two leaders said that they were looking forward to meeting each other at the forthcoming Nuclear Security Summit in Seoul.

Meanwhile, Italy's Foreign Minister also summoned India's ambassador to Rome to condemn the imprisonment of the two marines accused in the incident.

The marines are in a separate structure within the Thiruvananthapuram Central Jail complex, but Italy said even the preferential treatment was satisfactory.

Jelastine and Ajesh Binki, the two fishermen, were allegedly shot dead by the two Italian marine guards off the Kollam coast on February 15, suspecting them to be pirates.
