The EOW personnel have arrested five workers of Suvi Emu Firm, Perundurai, on Wednesday following a complaint from a depositor of the firm, Aruchamy (58).
It is said that he deposited Rs 1.5 lakh with the firm to establish an emu farm on contract basis.
But, the firm did not give monthly wage as per the contract terms.
When Aruchamy tried to contact the firm’s owner Sankar, his cellphone was switched off.
Later he went to the office of the firm but that was also closed. Following this, he lodged a complaint with the EOW.
As the firm’s owner Sankar and his partner Vengamedu Ramesh were at large, police arrested farm workers Anandan of Perumanallur, Jeeva of Sivagiri, Chandran of Vadugapatti, Kalaivanan of Kangeyam and Sudhkaran of Perundurai.
Sankar earlier served in Susi farm and left the company following a row with Guru, owner of Susi farm.
