Gadchiroli (Maharashtra): Five persons of a family, including a baby girl, were killed and two others seriously injured when their car collided with a tempo near Deulgaon village on Gadchiroli-Armori road, police said on Sunday.
The incident occurred on Saturday night when the speeding tempo rammed into Tata Indica headed towards Gadchiroli from opposite direction, killing five of its occupants on the spot, they said.
The deceased included Assistant Police Inspector Manoj Dharne and other members of his family while his wife and a daughter were seriously injured, district police stated in a release.
Dharne was in-charge of Fingerprints Department. Tempo driver, identified as Salim Pathan (30), surrendered himself before police following which he was arrested and booked under various sections of IPC.
The deceased are identified as Vimal Dharne (55), Vanita Dharne (25), Harshita Dharne (2 yrs 6 months), Riddhi Dharne (4 months), besides Manoj.
