CHENNAI: Home furnishing has travelled from the usual off-white curtains and boring brown door handles. Providing Chennai with a wider range of furnishing options is Kipper, a national home furnishing brand. The 10th outlet of the store was inaugurated by actress Devyani in the city recently. With stores in cities including Bangalore, Nagpur, Hyderabad and Kolkata, Kipper, on RK Salai, has a wide range of upholstery, wooden flooring, bed sheets, blinds, handle rods and towels, among other home décor. The designer rods, in intricate flower, leaf and bird shapes, and pure teak rods, stand out amid the plain plastic white and dirty brown ones. The upholstery, in bold colours and prints, is for those who have a taste for animal prints and rich textures. The mattresses look blissfully comfortable, almost inviting one to lie down. The bed sheets and bed linen are available in a variety of ranges, from daily use in pleasant pastel shades to more special ones with lace and the other usual frills. Folders over folders of material samples lie across the sprawling glass table tops, with the wallpaper samples being the biggest attraction. “These wallpapers are all imported from the Netherlands, USA, and other countries from across the world,” said a representative from the store. The cushion covers, carpets and blinds are additions that can perk up both offices as well as homes, as they are available in a variety of shades, prints, textures and materials. The wooden floors, with their rustic and classy finish, are another highlight of the store. The store is located at Challam Tower, 62/113, Dr R K Salai, Mylapore –Opposite New Woodlands Hotel.
