Washington: One more Indian American has been inducted in US president-elect Barack Obama's 15-member transition team.
Anjan Mukherjee, a managing director in the Corporate Private Equity group at Blackstone, has been appointed as one of the team leads in Economics and International Trade.
He joins compatriots Sonal Shah and Preeta Bansal. Another Indian, Nicholas Rathod is also being considered for a key job in the White House.
This is consistent with Obama's theme of bringing diversity to the White House and of listening to voices from all sides.
Some of the Indian Americans CNN-IBN spoke to say they are very proud of the appointments as even though the community is only 3-million strong, Indian Americans are already playing an important role in the forefront of the political landscape in Washington.
Obama is the first African American to win the US presidential elections. He will take over as the 44th president of America on January 20, 2009.
He rode a wave of voter discontent to a historic White House victory on November 4, promising change as the first black US president-elect but constrained by a deep economic crisis and two lingering wars.
Obama led Democrats to a sweeping victory that expanded their majorities in both houses of Congress as voters emphatically rejected President George W Bush's eight years of leadership.
Obama is the son of a black father from Kenya and white mother from Kansas, and his election triumph marks a milestone in US history.
