Here is a look at some other Bollywood movies which have dealt with the lives of Pakistani characters.

New Delhi: Last year, Salman Khan’s career received a new lease of life, when ‘Kick’ emeged a runaway hit at the ticket window and send his loyal fans into frenzy. Now, the superstar is back in business with his latest big screen outing 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan'. Directed by Kabir Khan, the film revolves around a young Pakistani girl who gets stranded in India.

Also featuring Om Puri and Kareena Kapoor in important roles, 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' has very effectively shifted focus on to the projection of Pakistani characters in Indian films Here is a look at some other Bollywood movies which have dealt with the lives of Pakistani characters.

Veer- Zaara: Directed by the legendary filmmaker Yash Chopra, this romantic-drama revolved around the love story of a Pakistani girl and an Indian Air Force pilot. Featuring Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta in the lead, 'Veer-Zaara' portrayed the Pakistani character as a passionate lover. Upon release, the film received tremendous critical acclaim, thanks to its sensitive depiction of how political turmoil affects relationships.

Filmistaan:  Touted as a fun-filled comedy, 'Filmistaan' created quite a stir amongst movie buffs because of its lively performances and humourous storyline. Directed by Nitin Kakkar, the movie highlighted that Indians and Pakistanis are culturally similar, courtesy their mutual passion for Bollywood. Interestingly, the film’s success went a long way in reviving Sharib Hashmi’s career, helping him big a few more projects.

Total Siyapaa: Featuring Ali Zafar and Yami Gautham in the lead, this romantic-comedy revolved around the chaos that prevails, when a 'happy-go-lucky’ Pakistani musician tries to impress the family of his Indian girlfriend.  Directed by renowned filmmaker E Niwas and written by Neeraj Pandey, ‘Total Siyapaa’ tanked at the box office, receiving some highly unimpressive reviews.

Ek Tha Tiger: Best remembered for the crackling chemistry between Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, this Kabir Khan-directed movie revolved around a RAW agent who unknowingly falls in love with a Pakistani  ISI informer. Produced by Aditya Chopra, 'Ek Tha Tiger' was lauded for highlighting that true love knows no boundaries and is not governed by nationality.

Gadar: Ek Prem Katha: Considered to be one of the finest films of Sunny Deol’s career, this Anil Sharma –directed drama revolved around the undying love between an Indian truck driver and a high class Pakistani girl. Interestingly, the film portrayed the Pakistani aristocrat Ashraf Ali ( Amrish Puri) as a desperate father who takes an anti-India , opposing his daughter’s lover to the fullest.
