CHENNAI: The Centre’s counter-offensive to protests against the Koodankulam nuclear plant intensified on Sunday as MoS for PMO, Parliamentary Affairs, Personal, Public Grievances and Pensions, V Narayanasamy, launched a vitriolic attack on SP Udayakumar, convenor of the People Against Nuclear Power Movement. The minister also appealed to politicians and religious leaders not to interfere in the discussions between the government panel and the anti-nuclear lobby.“It is difficult to speak the truth. It is easy to run around spreading lies and rumours. That’s what is happening. They are spreading lies, telling locals their women will go barren if the...plant is completed. The reason why India still has villages that don’t have electricity is people like Udayakumar, who block...initiatives like...Koodankulam,” he said.
