BANGALORE: Here is some great news for literature lovers in Gangavati. They can turn perfect hosts to your favourite writers. Kannada Sahitya Parishat (KSP) which is organising the three-day 78th Kannada Sahitya Sammelana at Gangavati in Koppal district from November 18 is involving the public by allowing them to host guests from Kannada literary world.With hundreds of guests including experts, artists, government officials and many more, the organisers looking forward for novel initiatives like home stays. The host Koppal District Sahitya Parishat President Shekhara Gowda Mali Patil said they have already completed one round of discussions with Gangavati localities in this regard.Now the organisers are planning for a walkathon in city. “We will walk and distribute forms seeking details from the hosts. Those willing to host the guests should fill the forms. They should have at least a two bedroom house and a car,” he said. A similar initiative was undertaken in 1995 during the 64th Kannada Sahitya Sammelana at Mudhol in Bagalkot district.Mali said that Sammelana is being organised at a cost of `4 crore. The State Government has assured to give `2 crore. “The government employees will contribute their one day salary which comes to around `35 lakh. Gangavati is known for rice mills and the mill owners will take care of the food which comes around `50 lakh, he added. The government school authorities have come forward to accommodate people, he noted.Meanwhile, speaking to The New Indian Express, President of Kannada Sahitya Parishat Nallur Prasad said hosts should take care of their guests. However, food will be served at the Sammelana premises for the guests. “Hosts should accommodate the guests and ferry them to and fro from the venue,” he observed.Prasad also said that it is the last Sammelana in his tenure as the KSP president. “We have constituted 32 committees which will take care of different sections including food, publicity, procession and many more,” he stated.
