New Delhi: Former Army chief general Deepak Kapoor deposed before the Adarsh Commission on Thursday. General Kapoor is said to have told the probe commission that he did not believe the society to be a security threat.

This is in contrast with the Defence Ministry's stand that it is a security threat to nearby defence installations.

Kapoor had given up membership in the society after the controversy broke out.

This comes days after BJP secretary Kirit Somaiya met Minister of State in PMO V Narayansamy to complain that the CBI probe into the Adarsh Housing scam is slow, contradictory and hit by hurdles and presented his set of demands in the case.

"Investigation and action in the Adarsh scam is not only slow but also contradictory. The role and actions of Government of India and Maharashtra government raise several questions. The CBI probe has been going on for 18 months," Somaiya said in his complaint.

"I have brought to the notice of the Minister in PMO V Narayanasamy the way the Centre and State (Maharashtra) government is trying to save Congress leaders in the Adarsh scam... We lodged a strong protest with him in not only dilly-dallying but the manner in which the Government of India, CBI and Enforcement Directorate is mishandling the Adarsh issue," he said.
