BJP leader Saryu Roy on Thursday asked the Hemant Soren-led government to make its cabinet decision 'effective' by immediately 'allowing' rights to panchayats over minor mineral sand.
"Not only the common people but also private companies are facing shortage of sand following non-implementation of the cabinet decision," Roy, a former MLA, said.
Referring to a senior executive of a private company in Jamshedpur sharing the difficulty in construction works, Roy alleged that the delay in handing over the rights of sand mining to Panchayats "has led to illegal mining" in the some places.
The cabinet had on December 12 restored the rights of panchayats over sand mining and scrapped the process of auctioning.
The chief minister was on record that the transition would take some time in the districts where auctioning had already taken place following legal concerns.
