PHULBANI: In the post-election violence, the Gudari panchayat office was torched in the wee hours of Saturday after the counting for Sarpanch post. The incident occurred after Gitanjali Konhor of Kaladi village was elected (un-officially) as the sarpanch of Gudari gram panchayat under Khajuripada block, said SDPO Gobind Sethi, who is in the area camping with one platoon of force. Police suspect it to be the handiwork of supporters of the defeated candidate who were opposing the candidature of Gitanjali for being an outsider.
