KOCHI: Vice-President Hamid M Ansari arrived at the Naval Airbase here on Thursday, embarking on his three-day visit to the State. Ansari and his wife Salma Ansari were received at the Naval Base by Union Minister of State for Food and Civil Supplies K V Thomas, Minister in-waiting M K Muneer, Excise Minister K Babu, Mayor Tony Chammany, Vice-Admiral K M Sushil, Flag officer Commanding- in -Chief Southern Naval command , Kochi, Dominic Presentation MLA, Additional Chief Secretary K Jayakumar, District Collector P I Sheik Pareeth and City Police Commissioner M R Ajithkumar. A 23-member team including Secretary Shamsher K Sherif and Joint Secretary P Hareesh is also accompanying the Vice-President. According to his schedule, the Vice-President would leave for Kozhikode on Friday morning and take part in certain official engagements there and come back to Kochi in the evening. Later, he will leave for Kothamangalam to inaugurate the M A Engineering College Jubilee celebrations. On Saturday, he will take part in the Justice V R Krishna Iyer Birthday celebrations at the High Court auditorium and will leave for Delhi at from the Naval Airport in the evening.
