Hyderabad: The Telangana NRI Parents Association and All India Peace and Solidarity Organisation (AIPSO) will organise a candle light protest on March 9 against 'Racial' policies of US President Donald Trump.
The protest march, to be held at KBR Park in Hyderabad, is organised in the wake of racial killing of Indian Techie Srinivas Kuchibhotla in Kansas in US.
The two associations have also exhorted people to protect and save NRI community in the America.
Speaking to media, Dr Sudhakar, National General Secretary, AIPSO said, "March 9 is Srinivas birthday, and we will pay tribute to him by uniting against hate crimes that took his life. The protest is against Donald Trump, whose anti-immigrant and hate speeches have resulted in increased racial attacks on Indians."
Questioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi reported silence on the techie's murder, Dr Sudhakar added, "PM Modi must speak with Donald Trump about security of 30 lakh Indians residing in US. America makes tall claims of being oldest democracy, then they should safeguard rights of people."
The recent hate attacks in US has created fear and panic among NRI parents in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, who feel that increasing racial crimes in US are not just isolated cases but a sign of growing resentment against Indian community.
Dr Rajkumar, President of Telangana NRI Parents Association said, " Most of the American revenue is generated by Indians only, who are more hard working and intelligent. That is the reason they get jobs in US. But post Trump, there seems to be threat to life all the time. The situation is dangerous for Indians residing in America."
On March 11, the Telangana NRI Parents Association has even planned to conduct a meeting inviting all political parties to collectively take the issue to highest level.
Concerns over safety have risen among Indian communities with Americans openly expressing their resentment online.
A website "saveamericanitjobs.org", claims its mission is to save American IT jobs for future generations. Moreover, it has sections like "Indian IT Mafia" and several individuals putting up posts telling their story of how they lost job to H-1B visa holders.
