BANGALORE: The High Court on Thursday admitted a PIL challenging Bangalore Development Authority's (BDA) move to sell corner sites through eauction and issued a notice to it.
The petitioner, M Subbareddy, has contended that after seeing the BDA's advertisement inviting ebids for corner sites through e-auctioning he expressed his interest to purchase the corner site which was situated next to his house in Hoskerahalli in Banashankari III Stage. The petitioner paid Rs 1 lakh to participate in the bid and the minimum bid price fixed by the BDA for the said property was Rs 50,000 per sqmt and the last date for bidding was fixed at 4.00 pm on May 25. In the initial stages, the petitioner put his offer at Rs 50,100 per sqmt. On the final day auction, the petitioner approached the BDA official who was deputed to assist those who were participating in the auction. Different people started to bid at different prices and at around 3.55 pm the BDA official who was deputed to assist the participants was called inside. Within a couple of minutes, M M Naidu, one of the bidders had offered Rs 53,000 per Sqmt of the site. After seeing that the petitioner tried to offer Rs 54,000 per Sqmt for the site by 3.59 pm and the computer failed to register his offer and he lost the site.
