Hoeness joins outcry over aborted WC gala

FIFA said that studies showed they would be taking a big risk in hoping that the Olympic Stadium pitch would recover from the damage it would incur at the June 7 jamboree.

The cancellation provoked an outcry of public opinion in Germany.

"If the international football federation continues like this it will succeed in discrediting a show like the World Cup," Hoeness said.

"FIFA is a monopoly and monopolies are always dangerous. Federations and clubs (football) would do well to bear their teeth more often against bosses such as the European football body (UEFA)," added the manager of the Bavarian giants.
