BHUBANESWAR: The NCP has demanded a judicial probe into the entire issue of horse-trading in the 2010 Rajya Sabha polls which has resurfaced after the recent audio tape exposures. NCP Legislature Party leader Amar Prasad Satpathy said since there were allegations and counter allegations about the developments in the RS polls a year back, a judicial probe can only unearth the facts. One of the tapes had exposed the alleged involvement of two ministers of state, Pushpendra Singhdeo and Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, in the purchase of opposition MLAs. The ministers have, however, denied their involvement. Satpathy said as the second audio tape concerns a BJP MLA, the State Government should immediately order a judicial probe into the matter. Two Congress MLAs and a BJP MLA had abstained from voting while the vote of a Congress MLA was rejected. Similarly, the vote of a NCP MLA was also rejected. Satpathy said the vote of an NCP MLA was rejected by the election officer as he openly showed it to the agent. But all the four NCP MLAs voted for the BJD candidates, Satpathy said. The NCP had announced its support to the BJD candidates. After the issue resurfaced, Congress suspended Lanjigarh MLA Shivaji Majhi who abstained and constituted a committee to probe the other matters connected with horse-trading. The party demanded a CBI probe and resignation of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. The BJP has also demanded a CBI probe.
