Already, 32 metric tonnes of vegetables were procured by giving fair price to the farmers in Nenmara, Ayiloor, Kollangode, Elavanchery panchyats in Palakkad with the help of Vegetable and Fruit Promotion Council Keralam (VFPCK).Mohanan said that direction was given to Hoirticorp to procure more vegetables from the region.In view of Ramzan and Onam festivals, Horticorp from the month of April has procured 600 metric tonne of vegetables, including tuber corps.The Onam season sees the vegetable cultivation touching its peak and this time around Hortocorp has ensured that local favourites are available in large quantities in Kerala itself.Also, through direct procurement Horticorp will ensure that the prices of vegetables do not escalate. From Idukki district, 38 metric tonne vegetables, including carrot, cabbage,  beans has been procured by Horticorp.  Horticorp is currently selling vegetables through its outlets and Supplico outlets in the state with a 30 per cent subsidy in view of the high price of vegetables in the open market.Onam fairHorticorp will start Onam fair in all districts in the state from the first week of August and sell vegetables through special Onam stalls set up with the support of Supplyco.  In T’Puram, four mobile vegetable stalls have been rolled out.
