BANGALORE: The state government will constitute a task force headed by tahsildars to check the irregularities in various housing schemes, Housing Minister V Somanna said here on Monday.Speaking to reporters here, Somanna said though the housing schemes are being implemented effectively, there are, however, certain areas allotting the houses to the needy and genuine persons where irregularities and discrepancies are taking place. “These need to be curbed and hence a task force headed by the tahsildar will be constituted in each of the 176 taluks to over see the smooth implementation of the schemes,” Somanna added.Apart from checking irregularities in implementing the scheme, the task force will also ensure smooth and proper coordination between the panchayat development officers, chief executive and executive officers.“Absence of coordination is one of the major hurdles in the housing schemes not becoming effective,” the minister added.According to him, over three lakh houses are under various stages of construction and in all about five lakh houses of various schemes will be ready for allotment by March 2012.“Over and above these five lakhs, there is also a proposal to construct two lakh houses exclusively for the tribals living in Gollarahatti taanda. This proposal will be placed before the Cabinet for approval shortly,” Somanna said.
