New Delhi: Naxals on Friday denied the government reports that they have extended the April 25 deadline for their demands to be met for the release of abducted Sukma district collector Alex Paul Menon.
Naxals said that the government should make its intention clear about their demands. They further said that the government is playing delaying tactics.
Naxals said they have given the medicines to the collector and his health is fine.
It's been 6 days since Menon was abducted and despite three rounds of talks, mediators and Naxals have failed to come up with any solution to free the Sukma collector.
Naxals have increased their demands, seeking the release of nine more of their jailed leaders, including, Kartam Joga and Vijay Sodhi. The government has already missed one deadline to meet demands and is yet to respond to this latest request.
A bagful of medicines was delivered to the Naxals for the abducted collector and it suggests that it will take some time for the deadlock to end.
Meanwhile, there is no police movement in Bastar as all security forces have returned to barracks.
