KASARGOD: The panel headed by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) Director General Dr Viswa Mohan Katoch on Wednesday held an interactive session with doctors and officials on the endosulfan issue. The ICMR Director General came here after holding discussions with the doctors of the Kozhikode Medical College Hospital who had conducted the latest study on the endosulfan issue. The panel came here to submit an interim report to the Supreme Court within two months on endosulfan ban. The Supreme Court had imposed a temporary ban on the use of endosulfan for eight weeks on May 13.
The panel members asked for more data from doctors working in the area. The panel asked for data on the morbidity rate in the affected areas. The panel also wanted data on the morbidity rate in the affected villages before endosulfan was started spraying in the area.But the doctors could not give any data which the committee had demanded. The committee wanted genetic data in the affected areas as well as details of marriages between blood relations.
