Panaji: Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi may have visited India for the first time to attend 45th International Film Festival of India, but she isn't unaware of Bollywood projects. From the recent Bollywood film she watched to other projects that have garnered huge popularity back home, she tells us all.
Happy about the pace at which Chinese film industry is growing, Zhang Ziyi told IBNLive.com about the manner in which Bollywood films are perceived. "We love Bollywood for its unique style. Whether it is about Bollywood songs or dance sequences, or the way love stories are handled, we love all of it. And on the other hand, we find several small budget films which have beautiful stories to tell," she said.
Ritesh Batra's 'The Lunchbox', which many thought should have been India's official Oscar nomination, made Zhang fall for Bollywood. The latest Bollywood film I watched was 'The Lunchbox', it is a beautiful film. '3 Idiots' is so popular in China," she said.
Zhang, who also met Anupam Kher at IFFI, was delighted to know that the actor loved her work in 'The Grandmaster'. "I just met Anupam Kher, he has done 418 films. I have started worshipping him. He told me that he loved my work 'The Grandmaster'," she shared.
Zhang Ziyi, who has worked with popular Hong Kong filmmaker Wong Kar Wai in 'The Grandmaster' hails him for his unique style. "He is very special, for me he is the master. He has a unique way of working. When we reach the sets, we don't have a script. We don't know the whole story in the beginning. It is only when we start shooting that we get to know what the film is all about," she replied.
