IIT-Bombay Chooses Khadi as Convocation Robe, Places Order for 3,500 Robes
"Khadi is our national symbol and we have adopted khadi to inculcate feeling of nationalism in the students," IIT-Bombay Director Professor Devang Khakhar said.

Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay has chosen khadi as its convocation robe.

The premier engineering institute has already placed an order for 3,500 uttarias or angavastrams made of honey comb towel cotton khadi for use by students at the time of institute's convocation.

"Khadi is our national symbol and we have adopted khadi to inculcate feeling of nationalism in the students," IIT-Bombay Director Professor Devang Khakhar said.

Earlier, Gujarat University had shown keen interest in using khadi.
