India to formally charge Headley in 26/11 case
A supplementary chargesheet will be filed in the 26/11 case against Headley.

New Delhi: India will formally charge David Coleman Headley in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack plot, Union Home Ministry sources have told CNN-IBN.

Sources said that National Investigating Agency (NIA) and Mumbai Police will be filing a supplementary chargesheet in the 26/11 case against Headley.

The chargesheet will be filed within the next one month in a Mumbai court.

India will also get access to Headley and he is likely to be extradited from the United States of America where on Monday he was charged by Federal Bureau of Investigation of being involved in planning the 26/11 attacks.

Headley, who will be presented before a US district judge at a Chicago court on Wednesday, faces 10 charges in connection with the 26/11 plot.

The charges against Headley include conspiracy to bomb public places in India, which can even invite the death penalty if convicted.

The suspected Laskhar-e-Toiba activist also faces the accusation of conspiring to murder and maim in India and has also been charged with the murder of six American nationals in India.

He has also been accused of provide material support to terrorists.

His alleged accomplice Tahawwur Rana and a third man, Abdur Rehman Hashim Syed, were earlier charged with plotting a terror attack in Denmark. Both Rana and Syed, who is former Major of the Pakistan Army, are Pakistan-born and then emigrated to the US and Canada.

Major (retd) Syed is in police custody in Pakistan and it's expected he will be questioned by the FBI.

Headley reportedly travelled to Pakistan after surveillance trips to India handing over photos and video to terror groups there.

Court documents also charge that Headley conducted extensive surveillance of targets for more than two years before Mumbai terror attacks.

The FBI team visiting India will also be going to Pakistan for further investigations.

Meanwhile, US State Department Spokesperson Ian Kelly says the FBI is sharing all information on Headley with India

"The US Department of Justice and FBI sent a briefing team that shared information with their Indian counterparts and information disclosed by Headley relating to his alleged role in 26/11," said Kelly.
