New Delhi: Indian women's team have done what their male counterparts failed to do.
On Wednesday the women's team won the bronze medal beating their much-fancied rivals South Korea 1-0 in the third and fourth play-off match at the Al-Rayyan Stadium on Wednesday.
Mamata Kharab scored the only goal of the match in the 16th minute of play converting a penalty corner.
After taking the lead, India defended with all their might and kept up the pressure on the Koreans with some fine attacking moves.
The team held on to the advantage till the final hooter to soothe some of the wounds inflicted by the men's team, which finished out of the medals bracket for the first time in the history of the Asian Games.
The win was all the more sweet as India had lost to the Koreans in their last league encounter.
