BCCI announced the 15-member squad for the ICC World Cup 2011, which begins from February 19.

2011 World Cup India Squad:

Off-spinner R Ashwin and leg-spinner Piyush Chawla were awarded World Cup caps by the Selection Committee that met in Chennai on Monday but Rohit Sharma missed out in the 15-strong squad for the ICC World Cup 2011, which begins from February 19.

Golden Globe 2011 Winners:

While "The Social Network" dominated, it was a night with something for almost everybody, as most key films came away with prizes. The main snub was for the sci-fi blockbuster "Inception," a best-drama contender that had four nominations but lost them all. Johnny Depp, who had two nominations for best musical or comedy actor, also left empty-handed.

Social Network Movie:

The Facebook tale "The Social Network" won top honors Sunday at the Golden Globes with four prizes, including best drama and director, solidifying its prospects as an Academy Awards favorite.

Winning the dramatic lead-acting prizes were Colin Firth for the British monarchy saga "The King's Speech" and Natalie Portman for the psychosexual thriller "Black Swan."

Lead-acting honors for the Globes' musical or comedy categories went to Annette Bening for the lesbian-family story "The Kids Are All Right" and Paul Giamatti for the curmudgeon tale "Barney's Version."

Mahesh Bhupathi:

The former beauty queen Lara Dutta is all set to tie the knot with Indian Tennis star Mahesh Bhupathi. Lara may still be on friendly terms with her ex-beaus Kelly Dorje and Dino Morea, but their names do not feature on the list of the invited people to her wedding, to tennis ace Mahesh Bhupathi, next month.

Australian Open 2011 :

Roger Federer opened his Australian Open title defence in belligerent fashion on Monday, thrashing hapless Slovak Lukas Lacko in straight sets to stroll into the second round of the year's first grand slam.

Federer took the match's first point with an improbable backhand drop volley and the winners flowed from the Swiss maestro's racket thereafter as he completed a 6-1 6-1 6-3 rout in 84 minutes at the Rod Laver Arena.

Mumbai annual marathon:

Mumbai was out on the streets in its running shoes on Sunday for the 8th edition of the annual marathon.

A record 38,000 people participated across five categories which include the 42 km full marathon, the half marathon and the 6 km Dream Run. Ethiopean Girima Assefa won the full marathon.

The race began from Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminal and covered Marine Drive, Pedder Road Bridge, the Worli Dairy, Bandra Reclamation, Shivaji Park, Churchgate and Flora fountain.
