CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) leaders and cadre took the anti-terrorism oath on the 27th death anniversary of former PM Indira Gandhi, here on Monday. Aimed at building a united and strong nation, the oath was administered to the party cadre by TNCC president KV Thangkabalu, at Sathyamoorthy Bhavan. He offered floral tributes to the portrait of the leader who was assassinated by her body-guard.The cadre pledged to create a united, strong and equitable society, bereft of caste and religious passions by following the foot-steps of the great leader.Later, they proceeded to Indira Gandhi’s statue near Elephant Gate Police station and garlanded the statue.TNCC general secretary Sadasivalingam, ex-TNCC presidents EVKS Elangovan and Kumari Anandhan, Vilavancode Congress MLA Vijayadharani, and other cadre paid floral tributes to Indira Gandhi’s portrait and garlanded the statue as well.
