Indrani Mukerjea's cocaine levels were below cut-off, tests will have to be done again: Maharashtra government
The government said the cocaine was way below the cut-off level and said it will go by the Forensic Lab report which says there was no drug overdose.

Mumbai: Maharashtra government on Saturday admitted that there was no cocaine overdose by Indrani Mukerjea, the prime suspect in the Sheena Bora murder case.

The government said the cocaine was way below the cut-off level and said it will go by the Forensic Lab report which says there was no drug overdose.

According to Inspector General of Prisons Bipin Kumar Singh, Indrani had fainted twice in September and was prescribed anti-depressant pills and tablets for insomnia by a psychiatrist. The IG Prisons said Indrani's blood sugar level was low, which could have caused her to faint.

Maharashtra Principal Secretary Home Dr Vijay Satbir Singh said, "Indrani's cocaine levels were below cut-off, tests will have to be done again. She has had a medical past. She hasn't been keeping well."

Indrani, who is currently in jail, was admitted to JJ Hospital in Mumbai on October 2 in an unconscious condition after she complained of "uneasiness" and was discharged four days later.

After Indrani's hospitalisation, conflicting reports had emerged on suspected drug overdose in prison. While one report said she had overdosed on anti-depressant pills, the other said it had found no evidence of this.

She was arrested on August 25, 2015 for her alleged role in the murder of Sheena, her 24-year-old daughter from a previous marriage, on April 24 , 2012. Sheena was killed and her body burnt and disposed of in a forest in Raigad district the next day.
