THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In a concerted bid to change with the times, the INTUC Federation of affiliated unions in the central and state public sector undertakings in the state has put forward a slogan ‘Work more,Earn more’. The two-day leadership camp for office-bearers of the Federation, which concluded here on Friday, has called for a collective move to make all PSU’s profitable, with the co-operation of the trade unions.Seeking effective steps to ensure workers’ participation in the management of PSUs, the camp also sought measures to attract more central and state PSU’s in the state. Raising another important demand, the meet sought sufficient budgetary allocation to support public utility PSU’s under loss such as KSRTC, Kerala Water Authority and KSEB, taking into account population figures.  Ministers Aryadan Mohammed and V S Sivakumar, AITUC state secretary Kanam Rajendran and former Industries Minister Elamaram Kareem, among others addressed the meet.Keeping the tempo of the discussions, Elamaram Kareem made a significant appeal to TU and political party workers, including his own colleagues in the CPM, to refrain from destructing public property. “A change of  government should not lead to a change in the approach”, he said. INTUC state president R Chandrasekharan, who is also the president of  the Federation, presided over the meet. KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala inaugurated the camp on Thursday. The Federation of INTUC unions in the central and state PSU’s is a first-of-its-kind in the TU sector.
