HYDERABAD: An interesting debate is taking place in political and legal circles whether resignations of pro-Jagan MLAs in protest against mention of YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s name in the FIR filed by CBI amounts to contempt of court. After submitting their resignations, 29 MLAs declared that they had resigned,  protesting  the mention of YSR’s name in the FIR.  Legal experts said CBI filed the FIR on the directive of the High Court and MLAs’ objection to the FIR is tantamount to contempt of court.“If MLAs criticise CBI’s action, it amounts to contempt of court,” constitutional and legal expert P P Rao said. The High Court may admit a petition if any one filed it objecting to the MLAs’ comments against the CBI. TDP and Congress too are of the same opinion.
