Gaza Strip: Palestinian medical officials say eight people have been killed by an Israeli tank strike that landed outside a home in the northern Gaza Strip.
The attack occurred in the town of Jebaliya. Paramedics at the scene say the dead appear to be civilians.
Rescuer Salim Sultan says the shell landed outside a home as a group of people were sitting in their garden. He says it's not yet clear whether all of the dead were family members. Sultan is a neighbor of the family.
The Israeli army had no immediate comment. But in the past, it has accused militants of using civilian areas for cover.
Palestinian medical officials say more than 800 people have been killed in Israel's two-week offensive against Hamas militants in Gaza. Roughly half of the dead are believed to have been civilians.
