MALAPPURAM: The state secretariat of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), which met here on Tuesday, decided not to yield to the pressure of the Congress on the party’s demand for a fifth ministerial berth.The party leadership declared that the final decision on the issue would be taken at the UDF meeting on Wednesday, adding that the party was still confident of getting a fifth slot in the Cabinet.IUML has also decided not to accept the Speaker post or NORKA chairman post instead of the ministerial berth. The state secretariat discussed the stand to be taken at the UDF meeting on Wednesday.After the meeting, P K Kunhalikutty reiterated that the party had not backtracked from its demand for a fifth minister. “The report that the party would not get one more ministerial post is baseless,” Kunhalikutty repeated.He also said that the wait for the fifth minister has been longer than expected.
