KOZHIKODE: Putting an end to the war of words over giving the fifth ministerial berth to the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), party supremo Panakkad Syed Hyderali Shihab Thangal has exhorted the party rank and file to not make statements which would weaken the UDF. According to a statement issued here on Sunday, Hyderali Thangal has made it clear that trading of barbs that has been going on in the state is not acceptable and would only help undermine the UDF. “UDF governance is the necessity of this period and Chief Minister Oommen Chandy is presenting the most excellent governance the state has ever witnessed. The victory in Piravom bypolls is a proof of this. Trading of barbs would affect the functioning of the government. Hence, IUML leaders and members should not make any provocative statement that would subvert the UDF or utter a word in the public meetings and demonstrations hurting the sentiments of others,” Thangal said in the statement. The IUML president has asked the party activists to remain vigilant against the flex boards and hoardings that can bring disgrace to the Party and the UDF members should unitedly remove such boards. He has also asked the party members not to allow the CPM to exploit the situation.
