KOCHI: Fr Jacob Prasad has been appointed the Rector of St Joseph’s Pontifical Seminary, Carmelgiri, Aluva, by the Propaganda Fide, Rome.He was serving as the president of the Pontifical Institute, Aluva. He will assume charge on April 14. He has secured licentiate in Biblical theology from the pontifical Biblical Institute, Rome, and doctorate from the Gregorian University, Rome. He has been teaching Bible at the Pontifical Institute since 2000, where he has also served as the vice- president.He was the parishioner of St Andrew’s Church, Pattakadavu, under the diocese of Quilon. Jacob Prasad was born on January 16, 1961, as the son of the late Franklin Nicholas and Delhina.He was ordained in 1985 for the diocese of Punalur. Fr Jacob Prasad has served as assistant parish priest at St Mary’s Cathedral, Punalur, and parish priest at Puthurkara, Elambal, Narikkal, Kalayanad and as the secretary to Bishop Mathias Kappil.
