Srinagar: Trouble continues for Nestle India as Maggi has now been banned in Jammu and Kashmir, which is the fourth state in India to ban the instant noodles. The state government on Thursday banned sales of Maggi noodles for one month.
Jammu and Kashmir became fourth state after Delhi, Gujarat, and Uttarakhand to take the step. Sales of Maggi noodles was on Wednesday banned in Delhi for 15 days, while its sale was stopped in Big Bazaar outlets even as more states ordered testing of its samples.
As food safety concerns over the two-minute Maggi noodles rose, the Centre filed a written complaint before the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) against the Indian arm of the Swiss multinational for alleged violations of safety standards.
Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain said that Nestle India has been asked to withdraw Maggi for the time being and a fresh stock of noodles will be tested after which a decision will be taken.
The Indian Army issued an advisory yesterday asking its personnel not to consume Maggi noodles and directed its canteen to set aside the existing stock till further orders.
