Srinagar: An FIR has been registered against Jammu and Kashmir separatist leader Asiya Andrabi for unfurling Pakistan flag on its national day in Srinagar. Asiya has been booked under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act.

"A case has been registered against Andrabi at Nowhatta Police station under Section 13 of Unlawful Activities Prevention Act," a police officer said.

Asiya is the chief of the Dukhtaran-e-Millat women's wing which is associated with the Hurriyat and is one of the most prominent separatist leaders. She is alleged to have not only unfurled the Pakistani flag but also sang its national anthem along with some of her supporters.

Meanwhile, the controversy over tweets by Minister of State for External Affairs General VK Singh refuse to die down. Singh was forced to clarify his stand and he said that he is fully committed to the government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He blamed the media for the controversy and also rubbished rumours of his resignation.

On Monday, Singh attended a dinner party at the Pakistan High Commission in the national capital where several separatist leaders from Jammu and Kashmir were also present.
