Jammu: A rifle snatching bid has been foiled in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district. An unidentified person tried to snatch the rifle of a State Bank of India guard.
The youth sprayed chili powder at the face of Head Constable Shafiq Ahmad outside the SBI branch at Qaimoh in Kulgam district at around noon, a police official said.
He said the youth tried to snatch the rifle of the cop, who put up a stiff resistance, forcing the assailants to flee from the spot.
"The cop and his weapon are both safe. A manhunt has been launched for the youth who tried to snatch the weapon of the policeman," he added.
