"India has forcefully occupied almost 30-40 per cent of the territory (Kashmir)," Professor Nivedita Menon had said while addressing a group of JNU students.

New Delhi: Jawahar Lal University Students Union joint secretary Saurabh Kumar Sharma has filed a complaint against the JNU professor Nivedita Menon for making statement that India has illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Manipur.

Saurabh said that her speech tries to legitimise Pakistan's stance on Kashmir and she is liable to face criminal prosecution.

Recently Menon stoked controversy with her statement in the campus that 'India is an imperialist country and pro-azadi slogans on Kashmir are justified'.

"India has forcefully occupied almost 30-40 per cent of the territory (Kashmir)," she had said while addressing a group of JNU students.

Menon teaches at the Centre for Comparative Politics and Political Theory at the International Studies School in the university.
